We celebrated with Okuma as they opened their first manufacturing facility in Charlotte.
J&J Machinery Transport at a Mining Equipment Show at the Charlotte Convention Center.
J&J Machinery Transport with Siemens Charter Antonov which was the largest freight plane in the world at the time.
Tragedy struck the United States in the wake of 9/11 and we saw a shift in freight hauling across the country. This is when we decided to downsize.
Long Beach, CA terminal closed because of a change in the economic environment and the difficulty to find drivers, the road trucks were being sold due to lack of quality drivers available. At this time there were 100 trucks hauling freight
Closed the rigging terminal in New Britain, CT. The employee then relocated to Charlotte, NC. Pro Pac International operated under one location with J&J Machinery Transport and both were run by James Jones with crating, rigging, and warehousing. Specialized long haul Transportation had changed in the wake of 9/11 and was not a main focus of the business at this time.
The economic environment took a downturn and there was not a need for as much transportation.
J&J Machinery decided to get back into the long haul specialized trucking business. Multiple customers were requesting our quality of work, pleading with us to get back into the business. J&J hauling and brokerage authority was reinstated and used local rigging trucks.
The phone did not stop ringing, specialized machinery needed to be moved and word of mouth spread to previous customers.
Purchased two Kenworth trucks with some caution about whether hauling freight was going to make a true come back.
J&J Machinery hired owner-operators for the first time since 2004 when the Long Beach terminal closed.
Purchased two more Kenworth trucks for over the road transport. April 2017- purchased Ridgeland Warehouse from Daniel Defense after relocating their plant to GA. Timing is everything.
The management team for J&J Machinery was formed with 65% female leadership.
Shutterfly warehouse opened up 45,000 sq ft of storage. The Ridgeland warehouse expansion began to break ground. The Ridgeland warehouse would now offer 130,000 sq ft.
Business operations and analysts were hired to support the growth of J&J Machinery.
